Greg Martin is Chief Operating Officer for Drax Biomass. He is responsible for all engineering, logistics, environmental, safety and operational activities across the company’s three pellet manufacturing sites and port facility.
Greg joined Drax Biomass in 2016 after working as an independent consultant to the wood pellet industry, advising leadership and investors on technical and operational matters related to current and prospective wood pellet manufacturing sites. He previously spent six years at Green Circle Bio Energy (now Enviva Partners, LP), where, as plant manager for the Cottondale, Florida facility, he oversaw all procurement, manufacturing and logistical operations for a 650,000 ton/year pellet mill. He later served as Vice President of Manufacturing, overseeing site selection, engineering design and business development activities while also maintaining responsibility for Cottondale operations. Prior to Green Circle, Greg served as Vice President of Renewable Energy for the Westervelt Company, responsible for developing a five-year, $100m strategic plan to support the transition from fossil fuels to bioenergy. Greg also spent 10 years with Alabama River Companies, including as Mill Manager for the Clairborne Mill Complex, the largest and among the most efficient pulping operations in North America.
Greg holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Northcentral University, a Master of Science in Management from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
