Jim Stemple is the Senior Director of Procurement for Drax Biomass. He is responsible for procurement of the raw fiber material used to produce wood pellets, and the procurement and inventory management of maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) equipment and services across the business.
Jim brings over 20 years of experience in industrial manufacturing to his current role, across multiple commodities in both direct and indirect materials and services, and at all levels from tactical buyer/planner to operational corporate commodities to strategic sourcing leadership.
He joined Drax Biomass in May 2017, and prior to that was responsible for procurement of the pellet fiber material for Enviva, LP. Before that, he had over 15 years of supply chain experience at General Electric in roles of increasing responsibility, and over three years as the Vice President of Sourcing for Watts Water Technologies, one of the biggest U.S. manufacturers in plumbing and HVAC valves and fittings, drain systems and water filtration.
Jim also served over 13 years on active and reserve military duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, and another 13 years of reserve duty in the U.S. Army National Guard, retiring in 2012 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography from the U.S. Naval Academy. He is a Certified Purchasing Manager and holds certifications as a Six Sigma Black Belt and a Supplier Quality Auditor.
